Wanted: Performance Video Editor

Start date: Immediately
Job type: contractor, full-time
Location: 100% remote, US/European timezones essential
Compensation: Competitive, in alignment with your experience

Paul Davids is one of the world’s most-loved online guitar content creators. His YouTube channel has nearly 4 million subscribers and over half a billion views, and his five courses have helped over 100,000 students get better at the guitar. Paul is now working on something new, and we are looking for a few brilliant new members to join our team.

The Role:

We’re looking for a Performance Video Editor who sits at the intersection of creative storytelling and conversion data. You’ll own the editing of paid ad creative across Meta, TikTok, YouTube, and beyond, turning raw footage, UGC, and scripts into scroll-stopping ads that drive measurable revenue. You’ll also support organic long- and short-form content where edits can be repurposed for reach.

This isn’t about making things look pretty. It’s about cutting video that performs. Hooks that stop the scroll, pacing that holds attention, and CTAs that convert. If you love guitars, music culture, and the players who live for both, you’ll feel right at home.

What You’ll Own:

  • Paid ad creative (primary focus): Edit a high volume of direct-response video ads for Meta, TikTok, YouTube, and Google. UGC, demos, artist features, testimonials, hook variations, and iterations on winning concepts.
  • Hook & variant testing: Produce multiple versions of hooks, intros, and CTAs per concept so the media buying team can test at scale.
  • Performance iteration: Read the data (CTR, hook rate, hold rate, CPA, ROAS) and iterate on what’s working. Kill what isn’t.
  • Organic support: Edit long- and short-form content for YouTube, Shorts, Reels, and TikTok, with an eye for repurposing across paid and organic.
  • Brand consistency: Maintain a recognisable visual language across paid and organic channels.
  • Motion, sound & captions: Add graphics, dynamic subtitles, sound design, and effects that boost retention and conversion. Treat audio with the care a music brand demands.
  • Speed & volume: Operate in a fast-paced testing environment. Batching, iterating, and shipping creative on a weekly cadence.

What You’ll Bring:

Must-have:

  • 3+ years editing video, with a meaningful chunk in paid direct-response creative (Meta, TikTok, or YouTube ads).
  • Expert in Adobe Premiere Pro (or equivalent) plus motion graphics basics.
  • A portfolio of paid ads you’ve edited, ideally with performance results attached (CTR, ROAS, scale spent).
  • Strong instinct for hooks. You can tell within 3 seconds why an ad will or won’t work.
  • Comfort with high-volume output and rapid iteration cycles.
  • Understanding of platform-specific requirements: aspect ratios, safe zones, UI overlays, duration norms.
  • Data-literate. You read ad metrics and let them shape your next edit.
  • Strong audio sensibility. Clean mixes, tasteful use of music, and respect for tone.
  • Collaboration-first. You work well with media buyers, strategists, scriptwriters, artists, and on-camera talent.

Bonus points:

  • Genuine passion for guitar, music gear, or the wider music community.
  • Experience editing long-form YouTube content alongside paid.
  • Familiarity with AI tools that speed up editing workflows.
  • Background working with creators, influencers, or UGC at scale.
  • You’re a player, creator, or content-maker yourself.
