Paul Davids is one of the world’s most-loved online guitar content creators. His YouTube channel has nearly 4 million subscribers and over half a billion views, and his five courses have helped over 100,000 students get better at the guitar. Paul is now working on something new, and we are looking for a few brilliant new members to join our team.
The role:
Design is a hugely important part of any online business, and we are looking for a confident designer to bring fresh ideas to Paul’s brand. Ideally you’re a designer obsessed with user experience and passionate about leveraging design to improve customer experience and product launch success.
The user journey should be seamless, from first interaction, through purchase flow, and throughout the entire course experience. It should also be sleek, and beautiful.
Ideally, it’s even mesmerizing.
For this to happen, we’re looking for a designer who doesn’t play it safe. Someone who reads a brief carefully, asks the right questions, and then goes away and comes back with something that makes us think: we wouldn’t have got there without you.
We’ve seen plenty of competent design. Technically fine, on-brand, forgettable. That’s not what we’re after. We want someone with a genuine point of view — someone who understands that great design isn’t just about looking good, it’s about making people feel something and then do something. In our world, that means more students discovering Paul’s courses, more clicks, more conversions, and more people finally learning to play the guitar the way they always wanted to.
What the work looks like:
- Sales page design and layout — building pages that guide people through a decision
- Graphics and visual assets for launch campaigns
- Ad creatives for Meta and YouTube
- Course artwork, thumbnails, and visual identity within the membership platform
- Social media assets
- Occasional video graphics or motion work (a bonus, not a requirement)
- Iterating quickly based on performance data — working with our media buyer to test and improve
About you:
- You’ve done ad creative, lots of them, and you understand what is needed.
- You’re ready to own design across the entire brand and platform.
- You have experience designing landing pages and sales pages.
- You have ideas that surprise people. You don’t default to what’s safe or familiar. You push, and you can explain why. When you present work, there’s a reason behind every choice.
- Conversion-aware — you understand that design in this context has a job to do. You know how visual hierarchy, contrast, pacing, and layout influence what someone does next. Beautiful and effective aren’t in conflict for you — they’re the same thing.
- Fast without being careless — you work quickly. Launch windows are intense and the team moves fast. You don’t need weeks to produce strong work, and you don’t disappear for days between check-ins.
- A real listener — you take a brief seriously. You ask smart questions before you start, not after you’ve gone in the wrong direction. Then, once you’ve understood what we need, you run with it creatively and bring back more than we asked for.
- Fluent with AI tools — you use AI as part of your creative process, not as a crutch. Whether that’s for ideation, image generation, or speeding up production, you know which tools to reach for and how to get the best out of them.
- Interested in the world of music and learning — you don’t need to play guitar (although if you do, we’d love to know). But you should find Paul’s world genuinely interesting. The best work comes from people who are curious about what they’re designing for.
- A collaborator, not a lone wolf — you’ll work closely with our copywriter, media buyer, and operations team. You’re open to feedback, responsive in internal communication, and easy to work with — without being a pushover on things you believe in.
To apply:
Send a short note to designer@pauldavidsguitar.com explaining briefly why you think you’re right for the role. Please also include:
- A link to your portfolio — show us the work you’re most proud of, and ideally anything you’ve done for digital products, courses, or conversion-focused campaigns
- A brief note on how you use AI in your design work (if you do)
- Please also make one static ad creative (for Instagram grid) for Next Level Playing, in this folder you will find instructions and everything you need.
- You should include the static ad creative as an attachment in your email.
Please don’t send a CV. We want to see your work and hear how you think.
There’s no fixed deadline, but we’re moving quickly. Once the position is filled, this advert comes down. We’ll aim to reply to all applicants within two weeks.
We’re excited to see what you’ve made!
